160m Balun + Hairpin

The 160m antenna was an inverted-L hung from a tree, with the vertical section around 45' (13m) high. Two elevated radials were also used, and the antenna was about 15 meters from the ocean.

Below is the balun (to keep radiation off coax) and a hairpin coil that was wound on a Dragon beer bottle (locally produced). The inverted-L naturally resonated at around 20 ohms, so the hairpin increased the match to 50 ohms, with a perfect VSWR.
